What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy recognises the deep connection between your mind and body. Between your emotions and your body.
You may experience things like: tight shoulders and neck when you feel stressed, or your heart may beat fast while your palms are sweaty. You may feel like you have a knot in your stomach, or even feel sick if you receive bad news. These are all ways of how our body communicates with us, telling us to pay attention.
When you’ve experienced stress or trauma, your nervous system can become stuck in survival responses like fight, flight, freeze, or shutdown — even when there’s no current danger. You may experience uncomfortable physical sensations and don’t understand why. In our work together, we gently begin to notice and work with these patterns in a way that feels safe and manageable.

Working in this way can help you to:

-
Feel calmer and more grounded in your body

-
Reduce anxiety and overwhelmRespond rather than react

-
Feel more present in your daily life

-
Reconnect with a sense of safety within yourself

You won’t be pushed to talk about anything before you’re ready. In fact, you don’t have to share the details of what happened — we can work with how it’s affecting you now.
