Hello I'm Tricia
I'm an experienced Psychotherapist with a degree in Applied Psychology and over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. I work online and in person.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck or exhausted from holding it all together, you're not alone.
I integrate talking therapy with trauma-informed Somatic Therapy.
If you are struggling with anxiety or the effects of trauma, you may feel constantly on edge, overwhelmed by your thoughts, or disconnected from yourself and others. Perhaps your mind keeps replaying past events, or your body reacts strongly even when you know you are safe.
I offer trauma-informed psychotherapy and somatic-based therapy for anxiety and trauma, helping you understand what is happening within your nervous system and gently supporting your body and mind to move towards greater calm and balance.
Many people living with anxiety or trauma feel frustrated that talking alone does not always bring relief. This is because trauma is not only held in the mind — it is also held in the body and nervous system. Combining talking therapy with a somatic approach allows us to work with both.
What Is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic work recognises the close connection between the mind and body. When we experience trauma or prolonged stress, the nervous system can become stuck in survival responses such as fight, flight, freeze, or shutdown.
In somatic therapy, we gently explore the body’s responses to stress and learn ways to regulate the nervous system. This can help reduce symptoms of anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional reactivity.
Our work may include:
-
Becoming more aware of physical sensations in a safe and gentle way
-
Understanding how trauma affects the nervous system
-
Learning grounding and nervous system regulation techniques
-
Developing greater emotional resilience and stability
-
Reconnecting with a sense of safety within your body
This work always happens at your pace, in a way that feels manageable and supportive.
Are you struggling with Anxiety?
Living with anxiety can be exhausting. You may experience constant worry, racing thoughts, tension in the body, difficulty relaxing, or feeling overwhelmed by everyday situations.
We can work together to understand the underlying causes of your anxiety and support your nervous system in finding a greater sense of calm.
How Somatic trauma-informed therapy can help you:
-
Feel less overwhelmed by anxious thoughts
-
Reduce physical symptoms of anxiety
-
Improve emotional regulation
-
Feel more grounded and present in daily life
-
Develop self-compassion and greater self-understanding
What is Trauma-Informed Therapy?
Trauma can affect people in many different ways. It may stem from a single event or from ongoing experiences earlier in life. Often the effects show up years later as anxiety, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, or a persistent feeling of being unsafe.
A trauma-informed approach to therapy prioritises safety, choice, and collaboration.
You will never be pushed to talk about anything before you are ready. In fact in Somatic therapy, you don't even have to share what happened to you if this is too difficult, instead, we can work with how it's impacting your nervous system.
A Compassionate Space for Healing
Healing from anxiety and trauma takes time and care.
You do not have to navigate this alone. With the right support, it is possible to rediscover a sense of safety, stability, and inner calm.
You can get in contact if you want to know more. I offer a free 15-minute consultation, online or on the phone, where we can have a brief discussion and see if we would like to work together.
